New Blood Donation Initiative in Odessa Region
As the war in Ukraine continues, the demand for donated blood has surged, a fact recognized by medical professionals. Recently, the Primary Health Care Center No. 16 held its eleventh blood donation event.
“Our defenders exhibit immense courage. When they sustain injuries, we can help by sharing a part of our blood to save their lives. We must continue to support them and do everything we can,” said the head of PHC No. 16, Anna Pavlega, who is an active donor and inspires her colleagues.
During the event, more than a dozen staff members donated blood. One donation can save up to three lives.
This initiative is part of the citywide charity project “Weeks of Good Deeds.”
Today, as Ukraine has been standing its ground for over three years, blood donation has become another crucial line of defense. Therefore, it’s vital for everyone without medical contraindications to participate in this effort.
Blood donation not only saves lives but is also beneficial for the donor:
- lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases;
- reduces the likelihood of cancer development;
- promotes overall body rejuvenation.
Donors receive two extra paid days off.
