Renovation of Odesa Infectious Disease Hospital
The renovation works at the Odesa Infectious Disease Hospital have commenced.
This hospital is the oldest medical institution in Odesa, established in 1802-1804 with the support of Duke Richelieu. It plays a crucial role in combating infectious diseases in southern Ukraine.
The hospital serves residents of Odesa, the region, and internally displaced persons. In recent years, it has been modernizing to become a contemporary medical center capable of responding to modern challenges.
As part of the Ukraine Recovery Program, implemented by the government and the European Investment Bank, renovation works are underway in two hospital buildings.
In the Valikhovskyi building, which is an architectural monument, structural elements will be reinforced during renovations, and authentic interior details and marble staircases will be restored. Currently, dismantling works and structural reinforcements are ongoing.
The internal spaces of this hospital building will be reconfigured according to modern standards, and all old engineering networks will be replaced.
In the administrative building, the roof has been replaced, and facade restoration is nearing completion. Inside, partitioning, interior finishing, and replacement of engineering systems such as ventilation, water supply, sewage, and electricity are in progress.
In addition to funding from the European Bank, other buildings of the hospital are being renovated with municipal budget funds. The final stage includes the renovation of a two-story children's building, which will house a modern boxed department with 82 beds.
There is also funding from the municipal budget for updating the drainage system and strengthening and waterproofing the foundation of the bacteriological laboratory.
