Training on Early Detection of Developmental Disorders in Children in Odesa
Representatives from health and social services in Odesa participated in a training session focused on the early detection of developmental disorders in young children. This training was organized by the Odesa regional organization of medical, psychological, and pedagogical assistance "Healthy Society" as part of the project "Resilient Families, Resilient Future: Transforming the Child Care System in Odesa and Mykolaiv Regions," implemented with the support of UNICEF.
The main goal of the training was to further implement developmental screenings and develop an algorithm for successfully identifying families' needs and directing them to early intervention services.
Early intervention is a comprehensive interdisciplinary support system for families raising children from birth to four years old who have developmental disorders or are at risk of such disorders. The integration of developmental methods into daily life and enhancing the life skills of family members help to correct identified disorders and adapt the child to society.
"Odesa is known as a leading city in implementing early intervention services. The collaboration of specialists will contribute to improving the health and quality of life for children who need early intervention services," said Tatiana Kutas, UNICEF's early intervention project coordinator.
