Saved Life: The Heroism of Medics in a Critical Situation
Recently, team No. 701 of the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance received an urgent call from Podilsk — a woman suddenly lost consciousness and stopped breathing. According to her husband, she had previously experienced difficulty breathing, a lack of air, and sudden panic. Medics arrived at the scene within minutes. The patient did not respond to external stimuli, and respiration and pulse were absent. This was reported in a post by the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine.
The team immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The monitor recorded pulseless electrical activity. For 36 continuous minutes, the team of professionals fought for the woman's life.
Fortunately, their efforts were successful. Spontaneous heartbeat was restored, the patient was stabilized, provided with post-resuscitation support, and transported to the Podilsk City Hospital for further treatment.
The woman's life was saved by team No. 701, which included: paramedic Volodymyr Pleshivyi, paramedic Oleksandr Vasyurin, and emergency medical technician Maksym Tkach.
“Their professionalism, composure, and coordinated actions exemplify a true team where every second counts. Such results also attest to the effectiveness of ongoing training and drills conducted by our Center. Regular classes and practice of resuscitation skills enable our specialists to act confidently even in the most challenging situations, where a mistake could cost a life. We thank our colleagues for saving lives, their daily dedication, and loyalty to the profession!” — noted at the Odesa Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine.
