Recent Illness Statistics in Odesa

According to the Odesa Regional Center for Disease Control, last week there were 2626 reported cases of ARVI and influenza in Odesa, with 80.1% of cases being children under 17 years old. The incidence rate for ARVI and influenza is 50.3% below the epidemic threshold, indicating a low level of epidemic activity.

In terms of COVID-19, four children under 17 were reported as infected last week.
The case rate for acute intestinal infections in Odesa decreased by 16.6% compared to the previous week, totaling 80 cases, of which 63.7% were children.

Isolated cases of intestinal infections, viral hepatitis, and respiratory infections were also recorded. There were no reported cases of measles, diphtheria, rubella, or tetanus.

Specialists from the Disease Control Center reported nine cases of whooping cough, eight among children and one in an adult.

Doctors remind that to effectively protect against whooping cough, children should receive vaccinations at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months. The whooping cough component is usually included in combination vaccines that also protect against diphtheria and tetanus. The urban children's clinics in Odesa have an adequate supply of DTP vaccines for whooping cough, diphtheria, and tetanus. Vaccination is free; you should contact the pediatrician with whom you have a declaration.
