Mental Health Awareness Day in Odesa: New Initiatives

Last week, Odesa hosted an event dedicated to raising awareness about mental health for both adults and children.

This event was organized in honor of World Mental Health Day with the support of the Odesa City Health Department and the Odesa City Health Center.

During this day, family doctors, pediatricians, therapists, and psychologists conducted informational sessions with adult patients and parents, emphasizing the importance of mental health care and providing recommendations for its maintenance and self-help.

If needed, doctors referred patients to psychological offices established in Odesa's medical facilities as part of the national mental health program “How are you?” to receive free psychological assistance.

As a result of the event, more than 550 residents of Odesa received consultations — about 450 adults and over 100 children. Additionally, psychologists from city health facilities provided 115 consultations.

To maximize engagement, outreach activities were organized in public spaces such as parks and recreation areas near medical facilities.

Everyone had the opportunity to receive advice on maintaining and improving mental health, participate in workshops, art therapy, and interactive games for children. Approximately 500 individuals, including over 150 children, participated in these outreach activities.
