The sports club for persons with disabilities «Odesa-Basket», led by Vasyl Rybak, head of the rehabilitation service at the Odesa City Council Health Department, participated in billiards competitions held in Ukraine for men and women with mobility impairments, as well as veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their families.
The tournament took place from October 11 to 13, 2024, in Kyiv at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine.
On the first day of the tournament, Serhii Kotsiuba, a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian War and a leading specialist in the city rehabilitation service, took first place in the overall standings.
The next day, Serhii Kotsiuba won the Ukrainian championship in sports billiards. The third place was shared by Odesa players, Dmytro Danylov and Valerii Chuhuev, from the «Odesa-Basket» team.
«The experience of the «Odesa-Basket» club, with the continuous support of the Odesa city authorities, is a powerful example of the rehabilitation of servicemen and veterans through adaptive sports,» emphasized Vasyl Rybak.

The Health Department of the Odesa City Council has established a department for coordinating rehabilitation assistance to ensure quick access to rehabilitation services in Odesa. The head of the department, leading rehabilitation specialist Vasyl Rybak, personally conducts weekly consultations for veterans and coordinates multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams across the city.
