New Transport Corridor Proposal for Ukraine
The Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, has proposed the idea of a "transport corridor" linking the port of Alexandroupolis in Greece to Odessa, passing through Romania and Bulgaria.
As reported by "Interfax-Ukraine", Mitsotakis made this statement during the 4th "Ukraine-Southeast Europe" summit held on June 11 in Odessa.
The proposal outlines a route of approximately 700 km, connecting through the Bulgarian city of Varna and the Romanian city of Constanta.
"I would like to see Odessa at the end of an ambitious connectivity project that starts at the port of Alexandroupolis, goes through Varna, Constanta, and ultimately reaches Odessa. This project could be proposed for EU funding," stated the Greek Prime Minister.
He believes this could be a multi-faceted project encompassing not only transport railway lines but also power lines and pipelines, allowing for faster transportation compared to maritime shipping.
According to him, the project would provide "a clear and tangible vision of how Ukraine's integration into the EU could truly change the lives of Ukrainians".
