Zelensky Calls for Genuine Peace Amid Manipulations

President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's statement regarding a "temporary ceasefire" from May 8 to May 10, asserting that Ukraine needs not a short-term "ceasefire" for the sake of a parade in Moscow, but a complete and immediate cessation of hostilities for at least 30 days.

In his address, the president emphasized that Ukraine has never sought this war and is ready to cooperate with all partners to establish peace and ensure security. Meanwhile, Russia consistently rejects such initiatives and manipulates the global community, trying to deceive, particularly the United States.

According to the president, the ceasefire must not be temporary or convenient for Russia, but rather immediate, comprehensive, and unconditional for at least 30 days.

Direct quote: "Now we see yet another attempt at manipulation: why must everyone wait until May 8 to ceasefire, just to provide Putin with silence during the parade?

We value human lives, not parades. That’s why we believe – the world believes – that there’s no reason to wait until May 8. The fire must cease not for a few days, only to start killing again. An immediate, complete, and unconditional ceasefire – for at least 30 days to ensure reliability and guarantees – is what can lay the groundwork for real diplomacy."
