Enhancing Urban Green Spaces: Achievements of the Municipal Enterprise 'Miskzelentrest'

Every day, approximately 180 employees of the Municipal Enterprise 'Miskzelentrest' work to maintain cleanliness and order in the city's green areas. They care for trees, flowerbeds, as well as remove the effects of weather conditions, plant young trees, and beautify the city with flowers.

Since the beginning of the year, the specialists of the enterprise have pruned 81187 rose bushes and conducted formative pruning of 464 decorative weeping trees.

On the controlled territories, lawn grasses have been sown over an area of 18723 sq. m, weeding of flowerbeds has been carried out on 164183 sq. m, and 2519 dry tree branches have been cut off. In addition, litter has been cleaned on 42988 ha, and lawns have been cleared of branches, leaves, and trash amounting to 164.68 cubic meters.

With the arrival of spring, the greening specialists traditionally begin creating floral compositions. This year, 2880 sq. m of spring flowerbeds were planted with seedlings (daisies, selene, violets, etc.). After the spring flowers fade, the specialists replace them with summer blooms, creating 4117 sq. m of summer flowerbeds from seedlings (salvia, tagetes, geraniums, cineraria, etc.). Additionally, 41476 perennial plants have been planted (chrysanthemum, miscanthus, yucca, hydrangea, and others).

Last summer, the city was adorned with 88 vertical flowerpots.

All seedlings for spring and summer flowerbeds, as well as flowers for vertical greening, are annually cultivated by specialists at the enterprise's greenhouse 'Rose'.

Moreover, 'Miskzelentrest' continues its work on greening the streets, parks, and squares. In 2024, 3246 trees were planted (3102 deciduous trees: maple, ash, acacia, sophora, catalpa, chestnut, soap tree; 144 conifers: thuja, juniper, pine) and 3104 shrubs: lilac, mahonia, cotoneaster, privet, barberry).

The planting of trees and shrubs took place in all city districts. All planted trees are older than 10 years, which significantly increases the likelihood of successful growth in urban conditions.

The enterprise continually conducts maintenance work on park furniture, children's and sports playgrounds located in the parks and squares of Odessa.

To keep the city's green spaces healthy, employees regularly dismantle advertising signs placed on trees in parks and squares. Typically, these ads are nailed to trees with metal nails, making their removal difficult and leading to various plant diseases.
