New Educational Standards for the Subject "Defense of Ukraine"
Ukraine has approved an updated list of essential learning materials and equipment for teaching the 'National Defense' course to high school students.
This order was adopted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In addition to the usual boards, markers, chairs, and tables, the list now includes:
- FPV drone control simulators;
- interactive laser shooting trainers;
- radio stations for learning communication basics;
- training track elements;
- mannequins for CPR and first aid training;
- tourniquets and bandages;
- tactical medical kits;
- helmets and bulletproof vests.
'The updated equipment will enable students to learn life-saving first aid skills, prepare them to use modern technologies in the field of safety, develop critical thinking and resilience against misinformation, as well as form practical skills for emergency situations,' the ministry stated.
It is worth noting that in 2024, the Ministry of Education approved an updated curriculum for the 'National Defense' course, which will now be taught in specialized training centers serving multiple schools.
According to Oksen Lisovyi, the educational program has removed 'everything that was brought in by the Soviet approach,' and now boys and girls are taught together, rather than separately as in the past.
The ministry emphasizes that the new teaching approach addresses contemporary challenges and needs in the field of national security and aims to foster patriotic awareness and develop practical skills.
