Diving for Recovery: Supporting People with Disabilities in Odesa
The "Diesel Show" team has joined efforts to support the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities in Odesa.
Diving represents a new step towards recovery, as being underwater allows a person to feel weightless, which is crucial for those who have undergone amputations. The water alleviates pressure on joints and muscles, enabling relaxation while simultaneously providing a workout. Every movement underwater becomes smoother and more controlled, assisting in the restoration of coordination.
"By utilizing resources such as the sea and fresh air, along with the involvement of specialists, we managed to create conditions for training in open water diving. During one of the dives, the "Diesel Show" team joined us, helping our veterans confidently and enjoyably engage with the instructors," noted Vasyl Rybak, head of the rehabilitation service at the city's Department of Health.
Additionally, the show's artists visited adaptive billiards training sessions.
