Home Birth: A Brave Story from Odesa Region
In the village of Pryamobalka, located in the Bolhrad district of Odesa region, a woman was unable to reach the hospital as intense contractions began. Consequently, she gave birth with the assistance of emergency medical services.
This information was confirmed by the press service of the Emergency Medical Care Center.
“Upon arrival, it became clear that labor was already in progress, and it was impossible to transport the patient to the hospital. She delivered the baby at home in the presence of her family. The situation was complicated by the breech presentation of the fetus, which is one of the riskiest scenarios in non-hospital settings,” said paramedic Tamara Dacheva.
The delivery took place in the house. The newborn girl entered the world without signs of breathing, her skin was cyanotic, and her heartbeat was weak. Resuscitation efforts commenced.
The medical team performed airway clearance, bag-mask ventilation, tactile stimulation, and oxygen therapy. After several critical minutes, the child took her first breath, cried out, and her skin color turned pink as her breathing stabilized.
The mother and newborn girl were transported to the Artsyz District Hospital, and both are in stable condition.
