Hearing Health Day in Odesa: Prevention and Detection Initiatives

Last week, Odesa hosted an event dedicated to hearing health for both adults and children. This initiative was organized with the support of the local health department and the City Health Center.

Everyone interested had the opportunity to undergo free hearing examinations and receive consultations from specialists, with referrals for audiometry provided as needed.

During the event, 426 individuals were screened, including 251 children. The examinations revealed 116 cases of hearing disorders, with 64 cases found in children.

66 patients received referrals for audiometry due to detected hearing issues. Ear, nose, and throat specialists provided consultations and recommendations to all attendees.
Local medical facilities acquired new diagnostic equipment for hearing disorders funded by the city budget. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of regular hearing checks—at least once a year—and advise visiting a doctor in case of sudden hearing loss.

Don’t hesitate to see a doctor if:

  • you experience ear pain or discharge;
  • there is a sudden loss of hearing in one ear;
  • you are concerned about your child’s hearing.
