Expanding Oncology Services in Odesa
Medical facilities in Odesa are broadening the treatment options available for patients with cancer.
The city's multipurpose hospitals have signed agreements with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU), enabling them to provide chemotherapy and support for cancer patients free of charge under the state medical guarantees program.
At City Clinical Hospital No. 10, chemotherapy is conducted at the hospital's oncology department. Daily, 20-25 patients receive treatment in the outpatient therapy room.
Chemotherapy services are available at no cost to both Odesa residents and individuals from other regions of Ukraine, provided they have an electronic referral and a clinically and morphologically confirmed diagnosis of malignant tumors.
The oncology medical service at City Clinical Hospital No. 10 includes not only a day hospital with a chemotherapy room but also oncologist and oncology screening offices, as well as departments for general and minimally invasive surgery.
This oncology service combines surgical, chemotherapy, and diagnostic capabilities, allowing for comprehensive patient support at all stages of diagnosis and therapy.
At City Clinical Hospital No. 1, chemotherapy is also provided free of charge under an agreement with the NHSU in the day hospital of the palliative care department. Since the beginning of this year, around 120 patients have received treatment here.
Starting in 2025, the oncology service under the state medical guarantees program will be developed at City Clinical Hospital No. 11, which primarily specializes in treating head and neck tumors.
The Odesa Department of Health is actively implementing comprehensive programs for the prevention and early detection of cancer. In the first half of this year, approximately 10,000 Odesa residents underwent cancer screening.
