Early Cancer Detection: The Importance of Timely Diagnosis
Early detection of cancer is crucial for successful treatment. With timely diagnosis, patients have a better chance of recovery. Ukraine's medical guarantee program offers free preventive screenings for everyone, regardless of registration.
The following free services are available for early cancer detection:
- mammography – X-ray examination of breast tissues to detect abnormalities;
- hysteroscopy – examination of the uterus to identify early pathologies;
- esophagogastroduodenoscopy – examination of the esophagus and stomach to detect inflammatory processes;
- colonoscopy – examination of the colon for the identification of neoplasms;
- cystoscopy – examination of the urinary bladder to detect anomalies;
- bronchoscopy – examination of the airways to identify diseases.
Residents of Kyiv, including internally displaced persons, can access diagnostic services at medical institutions contracted with the NHSU. A family doctor issues an electronic referral for this purpose.
Diagnostic tests may also be available based on age: 40 years for mammography and colonoscopy, and from 50 years for other procedures.
Internally displaced persons can also access additional services, including anesthesia and specialist consultations. Test results are provided to patients in a convenient format.
