European Commission Backs Ukraine: New Opportunities Ahead
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that Ukraine has met all necessary conditions for the commencement of the first negotiation cluster with the EU, currently blocked by Hungary.
She made this announcement at a press conference following the EU leaders' meeting in Brussels, as reported by "European Truth".
Von der Leyen emphasized that Ukraine continues to implement reforms despite ongoing challenges.
"This is truly impressive. That is why the European Commission advocates for the opening of the first negotiation cluster. Ukraine has done its part – now it is our turn. The accession process is merit-based, and Ukraine deserves to move forward," von der Leyen stated.
It is worth noting that during the summit in Brussels on June 26, 26 EU leaders supported the opening of the first negotiation cluster with Ukraine, but this decision was blocked by Hungary.
The government is still anticipating the opening of the first negotiation cluster following the EU summit.
Hungary remains determined to block Ukraine's EU integration. This was highlighted in the article "The European Union between Orban and Trump".
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated on Thursday that the results of the so-called "referendum" regarding Ukraine's EU membership authorize him to speak even more loudly against Ukraine's membership.
