Preparing for the Heating Season: New Solutions for Odesa

The Odesa Heating Company is diligently preparing for the upcoming heating season of 2024/25.

In light of the ongoing challenges to the country’s energy system, reducing energy consumption within the company has become a top priority.

Deputy Mayor Hanna Pozdnyakova emphasized that many of the pumping units at the Odesa Heating Company are significantly worn out and consume excessive amounts of electricity under current conditions.

Therefore, prior to the new heating season, discussions took place between the management of the Odesa Heating Company and the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine regarding the supply of four pumps, each with a capacity of 200 kW. The expected outcome is a reduction in energy consumption amid shortages.

According to the signed Memorandum, the Swiss Embassy financed the purchase of equipment costing approximately 12 million UAH.

In early October, four anticipated pumps arrived in Odesa. Currently, the equipment is being installed at one of the facilities of the Odesa Heating Company, which serves over 100,000 consumers and more than 421 administrative buildings, including medical, educational, cultural, and religious institutions.

“This equipment is crucial for the heating supply of Odesa. With lower energy consumption, it will help provide thermal energy to consumers in the central part of Odesa. Reducing consumption is particularly important during outages from the central power supply and when generators are in operation,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Odesa expresses gratitude to international partners for their ongoing technical support for the city’s critical infrastructure.
